Anyone Who has had trouble installing nero 7 Premium on Vista knows the grief in trying to remove it, this is because the installation jams and comes up with an error. Even the Nero Removal Tool offered on the site refuses to work properly.
Well I was having this same problem and I found a solution. It is simple but it takes a bit of time to do…but hey at least it works.
How to Remove Nero 7 Premium On Vista
Make sure you use the links I PROVIDE so you are using the exact same versions of software that I used. Don’t go uselessly searching on Google I’ve already found them for you. If the links go down post a comment so I am made aware of the problem
Step 1: Install A demo of Nero 7 Ultra Edition (Yes, You heard me)
Why?
When you install Nero 7 Ultra it overrides all the DLLs that were not properly working on Nero 7 Premium. This will Allow you to cleanly un-install both of them.
Step 2: Download and Use the Nero Removal Tool
Make sure you check off “clean all”
Step 3: Uninstall Nero 7 Premium
The uninstall should now work and remove nero cleanly without problems.
Step 4: Uninstall Nero 7 Ultra
If you wish you can now reinstall nero 7 Ultra and use that instead of premium.
Congrats you now have nero working on vista
NOTE: I have only tested this method out once or twice on a friend’s computer…if this doesn’t work drop me a line in the comments and maybe I can figure something else out.

Try this first.
Run the Nero Removal Tool. Then after the reboot try to uninstall Nero 7 in the normal way.
It worked for me.

This was intended solely for nero premium I don’t know it will work with other nero product lines.
However if people continue to provide feedback and verify that it is working I will create another post for all this information.
BTW I used this trick with vista home premium.
Try the official nero removal tool on nero’s site. The one that I point to is different from the normal one I believe

The problem is it won’t let me install Nero 7 Ultra edition. It extracts it then when the window “preparing to install” comes up, it closes and just stops? I tried running it in XP compatible mode and as administrater but nothing?

the procedure didn’t work for me (on Vista Ultimate) because the Ultra Demo install failed (like the Ultimate did, leaving some files & registry traces); it did work however with just the Removal Tool

The steps are meant to fix a worst case scenario. The nero install is very shaky with vista and can get jammed or messed up at a number of different points. It all depends on where you jammed up. Depending on that, you may need to perform all the steps or you may only need to perform a few. But you will only know once you actually try….

You CANNOT install nero premium on vista that was the whole point of this post. The post is about how to REMOVE nero premium if you were unlucky enough to install it….I never said anything about actually getting it to work.
You can however install nero ultra, but nero premium just won’t work on vista….fixes for it are still ongoing.

I have Nero 7.10.1 on my computer but it won’t allow me to completely install it. However it won’t let me uninstall it either, saying some kind of error. I tried the clean up tool from nero however it caused an error in my registry or somthing like that. I don’t know what else to do…

Thank you very much for the input, I only had to run the nero removal tool and then there were only a few files to delete. Then I had to install the nero ultra, works great so far! I was seriously considering removing vista, what a headache!

it works for nero 7 essentials to but all you have to do is download the nero remove tool run it and then restart your computer and then when you get back to the uninstall programs you can no un install nero 7 essentials through the normal way

HEY, RECENTLY INSTALLED NERO8 ON VISTA OS DELETED ALL NERO 7 FILES THROUGH REGISTRY AS UNINSTALL WAS NOT WORKIN STILL NOT ABLE TO INSTALL NERO 8 AS IT TELLS ME THAT NERO 7 IS DETECTED ON MY COMOPUTER.

Ok i did this and it worked. After hours of tryin to sort this problem.
Download the NERO REMOVAL TOOL just click open and then when the .zip (.rar) whatever it is opnes click on the .EXE and click run. CHEAK ALL BOXES clcik CLEAR. Reboot you pc.
After reboot. goto control panel > unistall a program > unistall nero > reboot
YOUR FREE OF THAT FILTHY THONG

I used the nero cleaner after having nero 7 demo and Nero Ultra. After running the cleaner with every instance of Nero selected (not the clean all box) then I clicked CLEAN. After it was done I rebooted, uninstalled the demo then Ultra. BAM!!!!!! DONE!

WHAT A MESS!!! I have VISTA
the cleaner did not work. I have a partically installed Nero 7 that does not open. The Nero 8 installer says I have 7 and it need to remove it completely in order to install 8 properly. I tried both ways to manually uninstally 7 and the method in the 8 installer, which just stops working, it my be a registry problem, guess. I even tried the office cleaner from in2thedeth, that working for him. I spent over a day and a half and I have NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. Thanks nero, although I this it is a VISTA thing.

try doing a system restore from before you installed nero see if that helps. vista should have automatically made one

My new HP laptop with Vista Premium does not even want to do sytem restore to the date before I installed Nero !! Im have the same problem with Nero 7, cannot uninstall !

hi all!
i need help!!!!! i have nero 7 premium installed. got hold of a nero 8 demo and wanted to try that out. however it crashes in the installer when it says initializing… it says something like ‘microsoft installer has stopped working…. etc’ i know the installer is still working as i can un/install other programs. so its a nero thing. have tried the remove tool, the steps in post 1, the microsoft cleaner tool thing and also deleting registry keys. in my c/progfile/nero/nero7 folder i have one folder called nero backitup. i cant delete this, even insafe mode. i cant install any demos like redchaos suggsted, as installer crashes again
im running vista home premium. anyone have any ideas!!!??? (i dont fancy doing a re-install of windows, we all know how bad that is)

i got the same problem as everyone here i did the regedit fix but now have that nero scout icon on my computer window and even deleted the registry keys for it and it wont go away and i get a recuring registry key on the run once folder it return nomater how many times i edit the registry i have vista ultimate with sp1 and i cant run a demo of nero as it tells me that the serial no. has expired but wait nero tells me you dont need that no. to run nero demo,or trial on any verion ive tried 7 and 8 someone smarter than nero please help i thank you very for it

Just run the Nero removal tool, but do not click on clear all. and click remove and also reomove personl setting when the removal tool prompts. BOOM no more Nero worked for me on Vista Home Premium. Thanks for all the support.

Thank you! The Windows cleaner worked. After uninstalling Nero 7 the normal way, and subsequently running the MS Clean tool it worked (Windows Vista Business).

Unfortunately it doesn’t work for me. The site you mention in step 1 gives a .php popup. I found following site http://www.brothersoft.com/nero-7-ultra-edition-download-45110.html and hoped I could download and install. The download (which lasted for more than an hour) seemed to succeed, but the installation stops without any message.
Does the link in step 1 still work? Or do you have another link or suggestion for me?
If you need any more information, please let me know.

Hey thanks heaps I know nothing about computers and was sick of ‘COM SORRIGATE HAS STOPPED WORKING’ msg appearing when I opened a Media file!(for the last 6 months!) I googled it and read that it could be Nero 7 premium which I had a lot of trouble with, which would not install completely but what was installed of it would not was uninstall!
